Since our last class, I have been playing around with Google Docs a lot, and honestly I have to say that I’m impressed. The program allows users to type in their projects in a completely web based application package that at least rivals Microsoft Office…for free. As this seems to be a growth out of Wiki technology, the programs allow for multiple user collaboration with an archive of changes. While researching what to talk about, I found this entry in an Instructional Designer’s blog on WordPress. Additionally this post speaks to the same topics that were covered this week. I will speak about this some more in class.

Now for Bad Verizon…they make me mad. Turns out the “New Every Two” promotion changed last February, however customers were not notified. The credit of $100 for a new phone to renew your subscription has changed to a tiered system based upon the cost of your phone plan. I have found Best Buy to be infinitely more helpful and cheaper for the renewal of a Verizon phone and will be using them for now on. Oh…got this phone…yay!

Missed class this week since I was sick.  Honestly was probably more fun in class than I was possibly having, but I suppose that should be expected.  From the descriptions that everyone left online, it seems like it was a very useful class period.

I have been playing around with Google documents for the past few weeks and it honestly is very nice, especially for a free program.  Many of the features will remind users of the Microsoft Office interface, but the ability to share documents over the net makes it very useful when work is needed in multiple access points.  After the readings from last week, I could imagine virtual ID teams could find these features very useful for asynchronous collaboration amongst themselves.

Had a great class last night. Happy Birthday again to Luke. It was interesting to learn more about the management side of IT as I’m planning to take the Tech. Administrator track. Its nice to see the types of things that I have to look forward to when I finish off this degree.

School this week has been a bit more hectic than I prefer. The tech teacher at the school has been absent for the past three days and they’ve put me in to cover his classes. Rumor is that this may be his last year with us and it appears that they’re preparing me to take over the computer lab for next year. That should be fun…just wish I knew that I would be teaching these classes in advance.
